ABOUT TALLOW
Why has tallow been used in soap making for centuries?
Soap has been part of daily hygiene for centuries, and Beef Tallow has long been one of its foundational ingredients. Early soap-making traditions across many civilisations relied on animal fats combined with an alkali to create simple, effective cleansing bars.
For much of history, tallow was widely used because it was readily available, naturally stable, and well suited to traditional cold-process soap making. During the saponification process, soap is created alongside naturally occurring glycerin, contributing to bars that are durable, long-lasting, and valued for their balanced cleansing properties.
While modern soap production has largely shifted toward industrial and plant-based alternatives, tallow continues to be appreciated by those who prefer traditional methods, minimal formulations, and time-tested skincare ingredients.
What are the unique features of tallow?
Beef Tallow has several distinctive characteristics that have made it a valued ingredient in traditional skincare and soap making for centuries.
Balanced fatty acid profile
Tallow contains naturally occurring fatty acids such as oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids. These lipids are structurally similar to those found in human skin, which is why tallow-based skincare is often described as having high bioavailability — meaning the skin can recognize and comfortably interact with these fats when applied topically.
Naturally occurring glycerin in handmade soap
During traditional cold-process soap making, glycerin is formed naturally through saponification and remains in the finished bar. This naturally occurring humectant helps attract and retain moisture on the skin’s surface, contributing to a more conditioned skin feel.
Supportive skin feel and gentle cleansing
Tallow has long been appreciated for helping maintain skin softness and comfort. In soap, its fatty acid composition contributes to effective cleansing while reducing the tight or stripped sensation sometimes associated with harsher cleansing agents.
Dense, creamy lather
The presence of stearic and palmitic acids helps create the characteristic rich, creamy lather often associated with traditional tallow soaps. This type of lather spreads easily and allows for thorough yet balanced cleansing.
Time-tested ingredient
Long before modern cosmetic formulations, tallow was widely used due to its stability, versatility, and compatibility with simple recipes. Its continued use today reflects renewed interest in traditional, minimal skincare ingredients.
Resource-conscious use
Tallow is typically sourced as a by-product of the food industry. Using it in skincare supports more complete material use and aligns with a practical, resource-aware approach to production.
Is tallow similar to human skin oils?
Tallow contains a naturally balanced profile of fatty acids such as oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids. These lipids are also present in human skin, which is why tallow is often described as being readily recognised by the skin when applied topically.
This similarity is one of the reasons tallow has been valued historically in skincare and soapmaking. Individual experience can still vary depending on personal skin type, climate, and overall routine.
As with any skincare product, gradual introduction and patch testing are recommended.
Does tallow clog pores?
Tallow is sometimes assumed to clog pores simply because it is a natural fat. In reality, pore response depends on many individual factors, including skin type, environment, existing skincare habits, and overall lifestyle.
Tallow contains a balanced profile of fatty acids that are also naturally present in human skin. For this reason, many people find it comfortable to use as part of a simple skincare routine.
As with any moisturising product — whether oil-based or water-based — individual reactions can vary. We recommend introducing new products gradually and performing a patch test before regular use.
Is tallow suitable for acne-prone skin?
Some people with acne-prone or reactive skin prefer minimalist skincare routines that avoid layering multiple active or highly processed ingredients. Because tallow-based formulations are simple and oil-based, they are sometimes chosen as part of a more straightforward approach to skin care.
At the same time, acne can have many contributing factors, including hormonal influences, stress, diet, environment, and previous product use. No single ingredient or routine works the same way for everyone.
If acne concerns are persistent or severe, seeking guidance from a qualified dermatologist or skincare professional is always recommended.
Why use animal fats instead of plant oils in skincare?
Animal fats such as tallow have been used in traditional soapmaking and skincare for generations. They are valued for their stability, versatility, and compatibility with simple formulations.
Tallow is a by-product of the food industry. Using it in skincare supports a more complete use of natural resources and aligns with a whole-animal approach that many people consider practical and responsible.
While plant oils are also widely used and appreciated in modern skincare, our formulations reflect a preference for time-honored, minimally processed ingredients that allow us to keep products simple and intentional.
Why does tallow have a natural scent and why is it not deodorised?
Tallow is a natural animal fat and, like all minimally processed fats and oils, it has its own mild characteristic aroma. This scent reflects the origin of the ingredient and may vary slightly from batch to batch.
We choose to work with responsibly sourced, halal-certified Beef Tallow that is carefully rendered by our supplier without unnecessary bleaching or chemical deodorization. Additional industrial processing can alter the natural structure and sensory qualities of fats, which is not aligned with our minimalist approach.
In finished products, the natural scent of tallow is usually subtle and often fades quickly once applied to the skin. Variations in aroma are a normal part of working with real, minimally processed ingredients.
Is tallow ethical and sustainable?
Beef Tallow is often considered an ethical and resource-conscious skincare ingredient when it is sourced responsibly. It is typically obtained as a by-product of the food industry, meaning it comes from animals raised for meat rather than being produced specifically for cosmetic use.
Using tallow supports a whole-animal approach, helping ensure that more of the animal is utilised rather than discarded. From a sustainability perspective, this can contribute to reduced material waste and more practical use of existing resources.
Ethical considerations ultimately depend on sourcing practices. At The Tallow Bias, we place importance on working with suppliers who operate transparently and align with responsible standards of handling and processing.
Like all natural raw materials, the sustainability of tallow is closely linked to how it is sourced and refined. When used thoughtfully, it offers a grounded, traditional alternative for those seeking minimal skincare formulations that prioritize simplicity and reduced unnecessary processing.
Is your tallow grass-fed?
Our tallow is sourced from a halal-certified butcher and selected based on quality, freshness, and suitability for skincare use.
You may often see the term “grass-fed” used in skincare. While this can sound appealing, it is not always clearly defined. In many cases, “grass-fed” simply means that the animal was fed grass at some stage, but not necessarily that it was exclusively grass-fed for its entire life. In practice, many animals are still finished on grain, which makes the term less clear than it may appear.
Rather than relying on labels that can vary in meaning, we focus on what matters most in the final product: a clean, well-rendered tallow that performs as intended in simple, traditional formulations.
Tallow, by its nature, is a nutrient-rich fat that has been used in skincare for generations. When properly sourced and prepared, it contributes to a stable, supportive base for the skin, aligned with our approach of keeping ingredients minimal and purposeful.
Is your tallow halal?
Yes. All Beef Tallow used in our products is sourced from a halal-certified butcher. This helps ensure that our tallow-based skincare is aligned with halal sourcing standards from the raw material stage through to production.
We place importance on ingredient transparency and responsible sourcing, so customers can feel confident about the origins of the materials used in our formulations.

GENERAL
PHILOSOPHY & PRODUCT APPROACH
Will your products benefit my skin?
Our tallow butter, shampoo bars, and soaps are made with simple, food-grade ingredients traditionally used in natural skincare, including Beef Tallow and carefully selected plant oils.
Many people value tallow-based skincare for its supportive role in helping maintain soft, balanced, and resilient-feeling skin. However, skincare is highly individual, and how a product feels or performs can vary from person to person.
Factors such as diet, hydration, lifestyle, stress, environment, and hormonal changes all contribute to overall skin condition.
At The Tallow Bias, our focus is not on promising results, but on offering honest, minimal formulations that support a more intentional and wholesome approach to daily skincare.
As with any new skincare product, we recommend performing a patch test before regular use. For specific or persistent skin concerns, consulting a qualified dermatologist or skincare professional is always advised.
What do you mean when you describe your products as “natural”?
We recognise that no finished skincare product exists in nature exactly as it is used. When we describe our formulations as natural, we mean they are made exclusively from simple, nature-derived ingredients without petrochemical derivatives, synthetic dyes, or added preservatives.
Each product is prepared using traditional methods, with the intention of keeping the formulation as close as possible to the original raw materials — avoiding unnecessary processing, fillers, or artificial additives.
At The Tallow Bias, this approach reflects our preference for minimal, transparent skincare that focuses on ingredient integrity rather than complexity.
Why choose traditional skincare over modern synthetic products?
Traditional skincare focuses on simplicity, ingredient integrity, and time-tested materials rather than complex, trend-driven formulations.
For many people, the appeal lies in clarity and intention. Products made with fewer, familiar ingredients can feel more transparent and easier to understand compared to formulations built around long ingredient lists or heavy processing.
Historically, skincare relied on natural fats, plant oils, and botanicals that were practical, stable, and suitable for everyday use. Today, renewed interest in traditional methods reflects a desire for resource-conscious, minimal, and functional skincare.
Modern synthetic products can offer targeted performance and extended shelf life. Traditional formulations, however, provide a simpler alternative for those who value restraint, material authenticity, and heritage-inspired care.
Why are you using only few ingredients?
We believe in keeping skincare simple and intentional. By using a small number of carefully selected ingredients, we focus on what truly matters — quality, function, and transparency — without unnecessary additives.
Fewer ingredients make it easier to understand what you are putting on your skin. Every component in our soaps, shampoo bars, and tallow butter serves a clear and practical purpose.
Many people also prefer simpler formulations, particularly when their skin is sensitive or reactive. Limiting the number of ingredients helps reduce unnecessary exposure while supporting a more mindful approach to skincare.
Rather than layering multiple additives, we rely on time-honoured ingredients such as tallow, plant oils, and natural botanicals that have long been used in traditional soapmaking and skin care.
Our philosophy is not about doing less — it is about using only what is needed, and doing it well.
What’s in your butter, soaps and shampoos?
As our name suggests, Beef Tallow is the foundation of all our formulations. Tallow has been used in traditional skincare for generations and is valued for its stability, simplicity, and compatibility with the skin.
Alongside tallow, we use a small number of carefully selected, functional ingredients depending on the product type.
Plant Oils
Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, and Castor Oil are used in our soap and shampoo bars to support cleansing performance, conditioning, and overall bar balance.
Our tallow butter also contains Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which contributes to texture and skin feel.
Beeswax
Used in our tallow butter to help create structure and stability while maintaining a smooth, balm-like consistency.
Essential Oils
Used in low, considered amounts to provide natural scent and character. These may include Cedarwood, Frankincense, Lavender, Lemongrass, Patchouli, Rose Geranium, Sandalwood, and Sweet Orange.
Natural Powders and Botanicals
Such as Activated Charcoal, Alkanet Root, Coffee, Rose Petal Powder, Sidr, Spirulina, and Turmeric. These are selected for their traditional use, visual character, or functional role within the formulation.
Every ingredient serves a clear purpose. We avoid unnecessary fillers, synthetic additives, or complex ingredient systems in order to keep our products simple, intentional, and aligned with traditional soapmaking principles.
Why don’t your products smell strongly like commercial skincare?
Many commercial skincare products use synthetic fragrance blends and masking agents to create a strong, uniform scent that lingers long after application.
We take a different approach.
Our products are made with real, minimally processed ingredients such as Beef Tallow, Beeswax, plant oils, and pure essential oils. These materials naturally carry a subtle aroma that can vary slightly from batch to batch.
When scent is added, we use small, considered amounts of essential oils rather than concentrated fragrance systems. This creates a softer, more natural scent that typically fades after application.
In unscented products, a mild natural aroma may be noticeable at first. This reflects the authenticity of the raw ingredients — not an attempt to neutralise or disguise them.
For us, scent is secondary to function, ingredient integrity, and transparency.
Why does your product look different from the last time I ordered?
All of our soaps, shampoo bars, and tallow butters are handmade in small batches. Because of this, natural variation is part of the process.
You may notice slight differences in colour, texture, shape, or finish from one batch to another. Factors such as temperature, curing conditions, ingredient harvests, and hand-cutting can all influence the final appearance — particularly when working with natural fats and botanicals.
These variations do not affect the quality, safety, or performance of the product. They simply reflect the nature of handcrafted production rather than industrial mass manufacturing.
We see these small differences as part of the character of truly handmade skincare.
Do you test your products on animals?
No. We do not test our products on animals.
All formulations are developed and tested by humans during normal use. Charlie, our dog and unofficial quality supervisor, is part of daily life at The Tallow Bias — but this does not involve animal testing. We never conduct testing on animals, nor do we commission it through third parties.
Are your products vegan?
No. Our products are not vegan. They contain animal-derived ingredients such as Beef Tallow and, in some formulations, natural Beeswax.
We are transparent about this choice and encourage customers to decide what aligns best with their personal values. Our formulations reflect a preference for traditional, animal-based ingredients that have long been used in soapmaking and skin care.
SOAP & SHAMPOO EDUCATION
What is handmade soap?
Handmade soap is produced in small batches using traditional soap-making methods rather than industrial mass production. Natural oils and fats are combined with an alkali through a process known as saponification, a technique that has been used for centuries to create cleansing bars.
Unlike many commercial soaps, handmade soap typically retains its naturally occurring glycerin, which forms during saponification. This allows the finished bar to support a more conditioned skin feel while cleansing.
Small-batch production also allows for greater control over ingredient selection, formulation balance, and curing time. The result is a thoughtfully prepared soap that reflects a more intentional and minimal approach to everyday skincare.
How do you make your soaps and shampoos?
Our soaps and shampoo bars are produced in small batches using the traditional cold-process method, which allows us to work carefully and intentionally with each formulation. Natural oils and fats are blended with a lye solution to begin saponification, the gradual transformation of raw ingredients into soap.
At the appropriate stage, we incorporate small amounts of essential oils and natural powders for scent and colour, depending on the recipe. The mixture is then poured into moulds and left to firm.
Once the soap has hardened sufficiently, each batch is hand-cut and stamped, after which the bars continue to cure for a total period of approximately four weeks from the time of moulding. During this time, excess moisture evaporates naturally and the soap develops into a firmer, longer-lasting bar.
After curing, the soaps are wrapped in recycled kraft paper only once we are satisfied with the overall quality and consistency of the batch. This slower process reflects our preference for minimal, thoughtfully prepared skincare.
I like liquid soap/ shampoo, why should I use a bar soap/ shampoo?
Liquid soaps and shampoos are largely water-based. Because of this, they typically require preservatives and stabilisers to remain usable over time.
Bar soaps and shampoo bars, by contrast, are water-free products. This allows them to remain stable without the need for added preservatives, while keeping formulations simple and focused on function.
Bar products are also more concentrated. A single bar can last significantly longer than its liquid equivalent, depending on usage and storage. They are easy to travel with, require less packaging, and take up minimal space in the bathroom.
For many people, choosing a bar soap or shampoo is a more intentional option — especially when looking for straightforward formulations with fewer ingredients and minimal processing.
Do your soaps and shampoos lather like commercial products?
Yes — our soaps and shampoo bars do lather, but the experience may feel different from many commercial products.
Industrial soaps and liquid shampoos often use synthetic foaming agents to create large, fast bubbles. Traditional cold-process soap produces a denser, creamier lather that comes naturally from ingredients such as Beef Tallow and plant oils.
This type of lather spreads easily and supports effective cleansing without the overly “stripped” or squeaky feeling some people associate with strong foaming systems.
Lather can vary depending on water hardness, hair type, and how the bar is used. Working the bar first in the hands or using a washcloth or jute bag can help build a more satisfying foam.
Is there a transition period when switching to natural soap or shampoo bars?
Yes — some people experience a short adjustment period when switching from liquid or synthetic products to traditional soap or shampoo bars.
Hair and scalp behaviour can be influenced by previous product use, silicone build-up, water hardness, and individual skin chemistry. During the first few uses, hair may feel different in texture, heavier, or less familiar than with conventional shampoos.
This transition phase is usually temporary. As residue from previous products washes away and the scalp adjusts, many users notice a more balanced, natural feel over time.
Simple steps can help ease the transition:
- Rinse thoroughly
- Use an appropriate amount of product
- Allow hair to fully dry before assessing results
- Be consistent for several washes
Every person’s experience is different, and some may not notice any transition at all.
How long should my bar of soap/ shampoo last?
This depends on how often the bar is used and how it is stored between uses. With proper care, a soap or shampoo bar can typically last four to six weeks or longer.
Because our bars are concentrated and water-free, allowing them to dry properly between uses helps maintain their firmness and extends their lifespan.
To help your bar last longer:
- Use a soap dish that allows excess water to drain away
- Keep the bar out of direct water spray when not in use
- Allow it to dry completely between uses
- Consider using a washcloth or jute bag rather than rubbing the bar directly on the skin
Simple storage habits can make a noticeable difference in how long the bar remains firm and usable.
Can soap be used as shampoo?
Yes. Our soap bars are intentionally formulated to be simple and versatile, and many people choose to use them for both body and hair. If this works well for you, there is no need to use a separate product.
Hair response can vary depending on factors such as hair length, scalp type, water hardness, and previous hair-care routines. When switching to a soap-based approach, some people experience a short adjustment period while the hair and scalp rebalance.
We also offer dedicated shampoo bars that are formulated specifically for hair and scalp care. These may provide a more familiar feel for those transitioning from liquid shampoo.
Ultimately, the best choice comes down to personal preference and what works most comfortably for your hair.
Is your soap/ shampoo ‘Tearless’?
No. Our soaps and shampoo bars are formulated to be gentle, but they are not tearless.
Some products labelled “tearless” use specific ingredients designed to reduce the sensation of stinging in the eyes. Our formulations follow a more traditional approach and do not include these types of agents.
As with most soaps, contact with the eyes may cause temporary discomfort. We recommend avoiding the eye area during use. If product does enter the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean, lukewarm water until any irritation subsides.
TALLOW BUTTER - UNDERSTANDING & PRACTICAL USE
What is TALLOW BUTTER and why is it called butter?
Tallow butter is a rich, oil-based moisturiser made primarily from rendered Beef Tallow, combined with a small amount of natural stabilising ingredients such as beeswax or plant oils, depending on the formulation. Together, these create a dense, balm-like texture that softens and melts with body warmth when applied to the skin.
It is called “butter” purely because of its smooth, spreadable consistency, not because it contains dairy. Tallow butter is completely dairy-free and contains no milk-based ingredients.
At The Tallow Bias, our formulations are intentionally minimal. We use only what is necessary to create a stable, practical moisturiser without added fillers, unnecessary fragrances, or synthetic additives. This simple structure allows the natural characteristics of the ingredients to remain central to the product experience.
Why does TALLOW BUTTER have a natural scent?
Our tallow butter is made from halal-certified, carefully rendered Beef Tallow, blended with natural Beeswax and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Scented versions contain only pure essential oils — no synthetic fragrance and no masking agents.
Because we work with real, minimally processed animal fat rather than a factory-neutralised base, subtle scent variations between batches are completely natural. Tallow has a mild, characteristic aroma that reflects its origin. We intentionally do not bleach or chemically deodorise it.
In the unscented version, some customers may notice a light natural scent when first applying the butter. This typically fades quickly as the product warms into the skin and absorbs.
Working with simple, real ingredients means allowing them to remain close to their natural state — including how they smell.
How and where do I use your TALLOW BUTTER?
Tallow butter is a simple, multi-purpose moisturiser made from natural fats. It can be used on many areas of the body wherever the skin feels dry or in need of extra care.
How to use
Apply a small amount — a little goes a long way.
Warm the butter between clean fingers and gently massage into the skin until absorbed.
It can be used on dry or slightly damp skin.
Reapply as needed.
For first-time facial use, we recommend performing a patch test to ensure compatibility with your skin.
Where to use
Face — as a simple daily or night moisturiser
Body — arms, legs, torso, or any dry areas
Hands & feet — especially rough or dry skin
Lips — as a natural lip balm
Elbows & knees — for thicker or very dry skin
After sun exposure — to help replenish moisture
Beard & shaving — as a post-shave moisturiser
For babies, very sensitive skin, or use during pregnancy, we recommend choosing the unscented version and always patch testing first.
Important note
Tallow butter is a cosmetic product intended to moisturise the skin and support its natural barrier. Individual experience may vary depending on skin type, environment, and frequency of use.
Is TALLOW BUTTER suitable for daily use?
Yes. Tallow butter can be used daily as part of a simple moisturising routine.
Because it is made from natural fats such as Beef Tallow, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and Beeswax, many customers use it regularly on areas where the skin feels dry or in need of support.
Frequency depends on skin type, climate, and personal preference. Some people apply it once per day, while others use smaller amounts more frequently.
As with any oil-based moisturiser, a small amount is usually sufficient. Observing how your skin responds and adjusting usage accordingly is the best approach.
What should I do if my TALLOW BUTTER softens or melts?
There is no need to worry. Our tallow butter is made from natural fats and may soften or melt when exposed to warmth, such as body heat, warm rooms, or being left in a car. This is completely normal and does not affect the quality, performance, or net weight of the product.
If the butter softens or melts, simply allow the jar to cool at room temperature and it will naturally firm up again. If you prefer a quicker reset, you can place it in the fridge for a short time before returning it to room temperature for normal use.
To help maintain its texture, store your tallow butter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Texture changes are part of working with real, minimally processed ingredients.
Can TALLOW BUTTER stain clothing?
Our tallow butter is made from natural fats, Beef Tallow, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and a small amount of Beeswax, which gives it a rich, concentrated texture.
If applied too generously or not given enough time to absorb, it may transfer to clothing — particularly light-coloured or tight-fitting fabrics. This is normal for any fat-based moisturiser.
To minimise the risk of transfer, apply a small amount, massage it fully into the skin, and allow a few minutes for absorption before getting dressed. A little truly goes a long way, and when used appropriately, most customers experience no residue.
If transfer does occur, natural oil marks can usually be removed with gentle pre-treatment, such as mild dish soap or baking soda, before washing.
Tallow butter belongs on your skin — not your shirt. Allow it to absorb, and it stays where it should.
Is TALLOW BUTTER safe for sensitive skin or babies?
Our tallow butter is made from a small number of carefully selected ingredients: halal-certified Beef Tallow, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and natural Beeswax. The unscented version contains no added essential oils or synthetic fragrance.
Because of its simple composition, many customers with sensitive or reactive skin choose tallow butter as a gentle, everyday moisturiser.
For babies and very sensitive skin, we recommend:
– choosing the unscented version
– applying a small amount
– performing a patch test before regular use
As with any skincare product, individual responses can vary — particularly in infants. Parents and caregivers should consider their own circumstances and, if unsure, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
Important note
Tallow butter is a cosmetic product intended to moisturise the skin and support its natural barrier. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition.

We use a small amount of unrefined Beeswax because it has been traditionally used alongside tallow in balms and salves for centuries, where it is valued for its ability to support and protect the skin.
Beeswax forms a light, breathable layer on the skin that helps retain moisture and reduce dryness, while still allowing the skin to function naturally. This makes it particularly appreciated in simple, oil-based formulations designed to support skin comfort and resilience.
In our tallow butter, Beeswax also helps stabilize the texture, reducing variation caused by temperature changes while allowing the product to remain soft and melt gently on contact with the skin. Its higher melting point supports a more consistent, reliable texture without the need for synthetic thickeners or additives.
We specifically use unrefined Beeswax, which is only filtered and melted, without bleaching or deodorising. This keeps it closer to its natural state and aligned with our approach of using minimal, purposeful ingredients.
While traditionally valued in skincare, we do not make specific claims regarding individual results. As with any skincare product, we recommend performing a patch test before regular use. For specific concerns, consulting a qualified skincare professional is advised.

While traditionally valued in skincare, we do not make specific claims regarding individual results. As with any skincare product, we recommend performing a patch test before regular use. For specific concerns, consulting a qualified skincare professional is advised.
Anti-Aging Benefits: Coconut oil contains antioxidants that can help protect the skin against damage caused by free radicals. This may contribute to reducing the signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots, promoting a more youthful complexion.
It's important to note that coconut oil may not be suitable for everyone, particularly those with oily or acne-prone skin. While it can provide benefits for many individuals, some people may experience clogged pores or breakouts when using coconut oil on the face. Patch testing and individual experimentation are recommended to determine how coconut oil interacts with your skin.
As with any skincare ingredient, it's advisable to consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional for personalized advice and to determine if coconut oil is suitable for your specific skin concerns and condition.

In our formulations, coffee is used in our ARABICA soap, where it contributes to both the cleansing experience and the overall character of the bar.
While traditionally valued in skincare, we do not make specific claims regarding individual results. As with any skincare product, we recommend performing a patch test before regular use. For specific concerns, consulting a qualified skincare professional is advised.
What are the benefits of HIMALAYAN SALT for skin?
Himalayan Salt is widely used in skincare for its natural mineral content and its ability to support smoother, more balanced-looking skin.
It contains a range of trace minerals such as magnesium, calcium, and potassium, which are often appreciated for helping the skin feel refreshed, revitalised, and well-balanced. These minerals are commonly associated with supporting the skin’s natural moisture balance and overall appearance.
One of its most notable qualities is its role as a natural exfoliant. Its coarse texture helps remove dead skin cells and surface build-up, leaving the skin feeling smoother, softer, and more refined. This makes it particularly suitable for use in soaps designed to provide a more tactile, exfoliating experience.
Himalayan Salt is also often associated with supporting circulation and promoting a revitalized skin feel, especially when used regularly as part of a cleansing routine.
In our formulations, it is used in our DESERT ROSE soap, where it contributes to the exfoliating effect and overall character of the bar.
While traditionally valued in skincare, we do not make specific claims regarding individual results. As with any skincare product, we recommend performing a patch test before regular use. For specific concerns, consulting a qualified skincare professional is advised.

Do you use LYE in your soap making process?
Yes. We use lye (sodium hydroxide) in all of our soaps and shampoo bars, as it is an essential part of traditional soap making.
Lye is required for a natural chemical reaction called saponification, where oils and fats are transformed into soap. Without lye, true soap cannot be made.
During this process, lye is fully reacted and no longer remains in its original form. Once the soap is properly made and cured, the final product contains no active lye, only the finished soap created from the original ingredients.
The result is a product that effectively cleanses the skin while maintaining a balanced, comfortable skin feel, especially when combined with carefully selected fats and oils.
Some brands choose to describe their ingredients as “saponified oils” to avoid mentioning lye. We take a more transparent approach and simply state what is actually used in the process.
While traditionally valued in skincare, we do not make specific claims regarding individual results. As with any skincare product, we recommend performing a patch test before regular use. For specific concerns, consulting a qualified skincare professional is advised.
